Hi, I’m Damien Coleman and I’m the owner of F23 Fitness.

All my life I have held a great passion for exercise and fitness and played both gaelic football and soccer growing up. I have completed both the foundation level and level one coaching with Mayo Gaa and have trained all levels from u6’s to minor with my local club Balla Gaa. I have also completed 2 Dublin City Marathons.

I moved to Dublin over 20 years ago and soon after, joined a commercial gym. I often found myself with no plan or program and not knowing what to do. There was often a queue for equipment and I sometimes left the gym without having completed a decent workout.

Some years later I found myself back living near home. I wanted to educate myself better in the world of Strength & Conditioning, which by now was becoming very popular throughout Ireland.

I began studying @Setanta College and achieved my Diploma in PT & S&C in June 2020. During my time studying I realised there was a need for a gym in the town of Balla. I wanted this gym to be some where people wouldn’t feel intimidated attending and a place where members genuinely felt cared for, a place where they would be coached by qualified trainers, a place they looked forward to attending, a community. Here members would have accountability while trying to improve their fitness and general wellbeing. Somewhere they could come to and leave all their worries and stresses behind for 45/60 mins. Here they would have a structured workout and follow proven programs.

I opened F23 Fitness in Balla, Co. Mayo  in July 2020. It’s  a private members only gym where we pride ourselves on our small group training systems. Each member has their own ‘training pod’ and equipment.

I am assisted in running the gym by Coach Eoin Earley and my patient wife Maeve who takes care of the administrative side of the business.
